what does “complutense” mean?

”Complutense” (pronounced com-ploo-TEN-say) is the adjective used to describe people and things from Alcalá de Henares, a suburb of Madrid.

My daily commute when I lived in Alcalá was down the Via Complutense, the old medieval road connecting Alcalá and Madrid, from where the name of this blog comes.

who are you?

I’m Jake Berman, an expat San Franciscan.  I have a bunch of talents that are almost but not entirely useless in my day job as a lawyer, which is why this site exists.
